Distasteful yes but not worthy of being held for 8 hours the world is going mad you can’t say anything anymore without the thought police having ago

The really sinister thing is that he was not prosecuted for’lack of evidence’. Evidence of what? By not having a trial he can’t be acquitted and the rest of us are intimidated into quietly surrendering our freedom of expression.truthorwell

A sandwich shop owner endured eight hours of questioning by police and had his computer seized for three weeks – after making tasteless Nelson Mandela jokes on the internet.

Neil Phillips, who runs Crumbs in Rugeley, Staffordshire, says he was also finger-printed and DNA-swabbed after officers received complaints about what he insists were harmless gags.

In one online post, the 44-year-old wrote: ‘My PC takes so long to shut down I’ve decided to call it Nelson Mandela.’

Mandela, the former South African leader, and Nobel Peace Prize recipient, died on Thursday, aged 95.

How does this even count as an offence in our legislation? It’s not a ‘troll’ comment , its not a bomb threat, its not even making threatening remarks. It’s nothng different to what you’d find on sickipedia. Tim Jones, you may not have liked the comment, fair enough, thats your opinon. That’s no reason to lodge an OFFICIAL COMPLAINT straight away. What happened to reasoning, or even the ‘Report’ on the website? Why did this justify wrecking a mans life? Will i get arrested because you don’t like this post? Where does this madness end?

There you have it – we really do have the Thought Police. He should consider himself lucky in that he was not filmed saying such things on public transport otherwise he would have been sent to a re-education camp. Did Mandela not fight for freedom? Doesn’t freedom mean accepting the possibility of offence from other free people’s actions?
